Does cutting the board diminish the strength?
No, cutting the board does not diminish the strength of the insoluble amorphous glass or the board itself. The addition of amorphous glass creates a harder board, almost as hard as hickory, increasing the strength, stability and rigidity of the board.

Can you use standard nails and brackets with TimberSIL®?
Yes, the amorphous glass encasing the fibers of the wood creates a protective barrier around the nails as they are driven into the wood. Use any exterior grade of fasteners and connectors without fear of corrosion. TimberSIL® adds significant fastener holding strength.

Will TimberSIL® harm animals?
No, TimberSIL® is completely non-toxic. See MSDS for more detail.

Will the glass in TimberSIL® harm people?
No, TimberSIL® is completely non-toxic. The glass in TimberSIL® is a naturally occurring amorphous form that breaks into harmless flakes if crushed, ground up, or sawn (in wood). There is no crystalline silica present in TimberSIL® products. See MSDS for more detail.
