TimberSIL® Glass Fortified Wood
Much more than just fire retardant lumber.
While wildfires are a fact of life here in California, not everyone lives in a high fire zone. Instead it’s the wood rotting and insect damage that destroy the majority of wooden structures. To prevent rotting in lumber designed for outdoor use, pressure treated wood uses pesticides, heavy metals and other know carcinogenic substances to kill off insects and fungus. The chemicals used can leach out into the ground and off gas into our breathing air and in the end the wood still rots. TimberSIL® is NOT “treated wood”. TimberSIL is the first product ever to be deemed by the EPA a Non-Toxic Barrier Product, meaning TimberSIL stops insects and rot with only the use of a physical barrier.
TimberSIL® glass wood has been put through a process that fortifies construction grade lumber with non-toxic glass. The liquid glass penetrates the woods surface, hardens and forms a permanent bond surrounding the wood fibers. Insects and fungus no longer see the wood as a food source and the VOC’s (carbon gasses) are locked inside the wood, not allowing the wood to burn.
TimberSIL® is a performance enhanced wood product. The glass adds strength giving it limitless applications. TimberSIL® is stronger, harder and holds a nail better than all softwoods grown in the United States, it’s resistant to both fire and rot, all while being environmentally beneficial . TimberSIL® allows the beauty and use of wood in areas normally designated for products such as treated wood or alternative materials such as metal or plastic. Using TimberSIL, you get added safety, strength and you will be eliminating the off gassing VOC’s from your environment.
